We are thrilled to host a town hall conversation next Wednesday, October 4th with Kendra Brooks and Nicolas O'Rourke, the Working Families Party candidates running for two minority seats on City Council. On November 7th, we have an opportunity to kick Republicans off City Council by voting for these powerhouse progressive candidates. Join us for an intimate conversation with them to learn about their vision for a Philadelphia that works for all of us.

In Philly, our city charter reserves two council seats for non-Democrats. Republicans had power for decades because no one challenged them, and their party worked tirelessly to suppress Philadelphia's vote. In 2019, Kendra Brooks did what the establishment told her she couldn’t do: she beat one of those Republicans as a Working Families Party candidate. Here's how we'll do it again this November: instead of voting for 5 Democrats, each of us needs to vote for Kendra and Nic, along with 3 Democrats. That way 5 Democrats will still win, but Nic and Kendra will have the votes they need to take the two minority seats from Republicans.

Since being in office, Kendra has won groundbreaking reforms to protect renters, defend community gardens, and expand non-police mobile crisis teams for people in mental health crisis. Nic and Kendra are consistently present when our movement has rallies, memorials, and community events. They walk the halls of our public schools and stand on picket lines with workers. While many politicians offer false promises and empty rhetoric, Kendra and Nic match their powerful vision with action, showing up for our communities when we need them the most.

Come out to Mosaic Community Church next Wednesday, October 4th at 6:30 PM to meet these two movement candidates in person. Bring your questions and let them know what issues are most pressing for you. We have an exciting opportunity to bring people power to City Hall by electing Kendra Brooks and Nicolas O'Rourke on November 7th. Register below to join us!
